Honda City to get a facelift and Sensing intelligent driver aids for 2024 model year
Honda’s best-selling subcompact sedan is about to get a refresh as well as a high-tech upgrade for its first minor model change (MMC). After launching in India and being spotted in Malaysia earlier this year, Honda Cars Philippines Inc (HCPI) has announced that they will be launching the updated City on July 13, 2023.
Billed as a 2024 model year, the City will get a facelift and more importantly, Honda Sensing across all variants. That’s right, the brand’s suite of intelligent driver aids will be available for the subcompact four-door for the first time. In addition, the automaker has released the variants and pricing of the soon-to-be-launched sedan.
Starting with the Honda Sensing features, the 2024 City will be available with smart driving aids. While Honda has yet to reveal the full list, it will likely have the same features as its stablemates. That means we could expect it to have adaptive cruise control, collision mitigation braking, lane-keeping assist, road departure mitigation, lane departure warning, auto high-beam, and lead car departure notification.
Besides having Honda Sensing, the 2024 City will also be getting a new digital instrument cluster. This will likely be the same one that’s currently seeing use in the higher-grade versions of the Civic and HR-V. Not only that, but the 8-inch touchscreen will now support wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto for seamless connectivity.
Honda is not yet ready to show the 2024 City in full. However, HCPI did mention that it will have a bold and sportier exterior that will consist of a new front grille and redesigned bumpers that will give it a fresh look. More than likely, the PH-spec 2024 Honda City will get the same restyling as the Indian market which received it earlier this year.
As before, the engine of the Honda City will continue to be the 1.5-liter DOHC i-VTEC four-cylinder engine. It will be mated solely to a CVT and makes 121 PS with 145 Nm of torque.
There will be a total of four variants of the 2024 Honda City. The range will start with the 1.5 E CVT which marks the return of the variant after a brief hiatus. It will then be followed by the 1.5 S CVT, the 1.5 V CVT, and the top-of-the-line 1.5 RS CVT.
