Back in October 2020, General Motors resurrected the Hummer name. But unlike its predecessor, it's no longer a gas-guzzler. Launched under the GMC brand, the new Hummer does not need a single drop of fuel. That's because they transformed it into a fully electric vehicle.

It no longer has a whopping V8 engine under the hood, but it does come with three electric motors. The result is over 1,000 HP and nearly 16,000 Nm of torque (that's not a typo). It makes so much torque that GM even labeled it as a Supertruck.

Initially, we thought the Hummer EV would only come as a pick-up truck. But six months after it made its global debut, GMC has revealed the 2024 Hummer EV SUV.

Much like the pick-up truck version, the Hummer EV SUV adopts the same styling elements – from the full-width headlights, vertical taillights, muscular wheel arches, as well as near-vertical windshield. In some ways, you won't mistake it for anything else on the road. But despite its size, don't expect three rows of seats inside, as this variant can only seat five. That's because the batteries ate up the space for the extra row.

In case you want to make the SUV capable of going off the beaten path, GMC is offering the Extreme Off-Road Package. With it, the SUV gets 18-inch alloy wheels wrapped in 35-inch M/T tires, underbody armor, rock sliders, front and rear eVirtual differential lockers, heavy-duty spline shafts, and underbody-mounted cameras for better visibility.

Powering the Hummer EV SUV are three electric motors. However, it doesn't output the same amount of juice as the pick-up truck version. Still, the EV SUV produces a staggering 830 PS and 15,592 Nm. It allows the SUV to go from 0 – 97 km/h in just 3.5 seconds.

“The GMC Hummer EVs were envisioned to be the most capable and compelling electric supertrucks ever. The new Hummer EV SUV is the next chapter, which will offer many options for customers to tailor the truck to their lifestyles while continuing to encourage them to forge new paths with zero emissions,” said Duncan Aldred, global vice president of Buick and GMC.

The Hummer EV SUV with three electric motors will be available sometime in mid-2023 for $99,995 (about PHP 4.860 million). Opt for the First Edition variant and it will be priced at $105,595 (about PHP 5.133 million). If that's not enough, there's the First Edition with the Extreme Off-Road Package which retails at $110,595 (about PHP 5.376 million).

A slightly more affordable two-motor version will be available in 2024 and will start at $79,995 (about PHP 3.888 million).
