Facelifted Honda City now comes with Sensing across all variants for PH

After giving us a glimpse of the refreshed sedan a couple of weeks ago, Honda Cars Philippines Inc (HCPI) has officially taken the covers off the 2024 City facelift.

Sporting subtle yet important changes inside and out. the B-segment sedan now comes with smart driving aids across all variants, a fresh new look, more high-tech features, and the return of the entry-level E variant after a brief hiatus.

Starting with the exterior redesign, the 2024 City in RS guise gets a redesigned honeycomb-style grille and a restyled front bumper. It also continues to be fitted with side skirts, a rear diffuser, and a black ducktail spoiler. It also gets automatic LED headlights and LED foglights, body-colored door handles, and new diamond-cut 16-inch alloy wheels.

As for the V, S, and E models, they get a thin chrome bar that’s complemented by a multi-slat grille painted black. There’s also the redesigned rear bumper (also available in RS) that now comes with horizontal reflectors which replace the pre-facelift’s vertical rear reflectors. The V variant gets chrome door handles while the S and V get body-colored door handles.

As far as wheel choices are concerned, the V variant comes with 16-inch silver alloy wheels, the S gets 15-inch silver-painted alloy wheels, and the E model rolls on 15-inch steelies. Size-wise, the 2024 City measures 4580mm long (4589mm for RS), 1748mm wide, and 1467mm tall. It also has a generous 2600mm wheelbase, a 519-liter trunk space, and 134mm of ground clearance.

If you prefer your City with a bit more style, there's also a Modulo kit available which adds new wheels, a body kit, and other extras.

Open the doors and some might say the 2024 City still looks the same as the pre-facelift version. However, it gets some neat yet understated upgrades.

An 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system is standard on the S, V, and RS versions. For the 2024 model year, the system now supports wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto for seamless mobile connectivity. As for the entry-level E, it only gets a standard 2-DIN sound system with Bluetooth and USB connectivity. Last but not least, all variants come with a 4-speaker sound system while the RS gets an additional 4 tweeters.

Automatic climate control and rear vents are standard on the RS and V variants while the lesser S and E models only get manual air-conditioning and no rear vents. Leather upholstery is standard equipment on the RS while fabric seats are available for the V, S, and E. In addition, a rear center armrest with integrated cupholders, paddle shifters, and remote engine start are standard on the RS. Unfortunately, the lesser models lack the aforementioned features.

All variants of the 2024 City come with the carried-over 1.5-liter DOHC i-VTEC four-cylinder engine. It makes 121 PS at 6600 rpm along with 145 Nm of torque at 4300 rpm. No manual transmissions here as all model grades of the refreshed sedan now only come with a CVT driving the front wheels. In addition, only the RS version gets paddle shifters for sequential shifting.

As mentioned before, Honda Sensing is now available across the range for the 2024 City. This means the updated sedan now gets a suite of intelligent driver aids which include; adaptive cruise control, collision mitigation braking system, lane-keeping assist, road departure mitigation, lane departure warning, auto high-beam, and lead car departure notification.

Other safety features available across the board are; anti-lock brakes with electronic brakeforce distribution, brake assist, vehicle stability assist, hill-start assist, agile handling assist, ISOFIX child seat anchors, a rear seat reminder, and four airbags (dual front and dual side) Curtain airbags are reserved for the top-spec RS. There’s also a reverse camera but it’s only available for the RS and V models.
