Latest generation Nissan Almera gets its first update
Nissan's B-segment sedan has just been updated, and it gets more than just a refreshed exterior and interior. After launching the all-new model around two years ago, the 2024 facelift of the Nissan Almera has made its way to the Philippines. Available in three distinct variants, the 2024 Nissan Almera receives a facelift, new and upgraded features, and for the first time, Nissan Connected Services.
Beginning with its looks, the refreshed B-segment sedan receives a more stylish version of Nissan's V-Motion grille complete with piano black and chrome accents. Meanwhile, the grille itself appears to be wider and larger which further accentuates the sedan's bold front fascia. On top-of-the-line variants, the sedan is also available with a black-painted roof that gives it a bolder look than ever.
The range-topping VL comes with 16-inch alloy wheels wrapped in 205/55 tires while the mid-range VE gets 15-inch alloys with 195/65 tires. The base model EL only gets 15-inch steelies with 195/65 tires. The VL and VE come with LED headlights, LED foglights, and LED daytime running lights while the EL only comes with halogen headlights.
Inside, the black-and-white two-tone finish of the cabin has been replaced with a new blue-and-black colorway which gives the sedan a more youthful vibe. Available only for the range-topping VL are leather seats complete with dark blue trim. On the other hand, the VE and EL get fabric seats. Also worth mentioning is a new frameless rearview mirror with night/day settings.
As before, the VL and VE variants get a 7-inch digital multi-info display that also doubles as the trip computer. The EL, on the other hand, only gets analog gauges and a smaller multi-info display. Infotainment inside the 2024 Almera comes in the form of an 8-inch touchscreen media display that supports USB, Apple CarPlay, and Android Auto (VL and VE only). The EL gets a standard 2-DIN sound system with Bluetooth, USB, and Aux. The VL and VE get 6 speakers while the EL gets 4 speakers only. Other features available include a push-button start, automatic climate control, an intelligent key with a remote engine start, and a host of USB ports.
The PH-spec Almera also gets Nissan Connect Services. Available for both iOS and Android devices, this new feature will allow users to remotely connect with the vehicle and perform certain checks. These include theft alerts, vehicle health reports, remote engine start/stop, maintenance alert/reminder, remote horn/light, speed alerts, and MyCar Finder. And in the event of a collision or accident, Nissan Connect Services, also include automatic collision notification and an SOS emergency call button.
Under the hood, the 2024 Almera continues to be powered by a 1.0-liter three-cylinder turbo dubbed HRA0. It makes 100 PS at 5000 PS with 152 Nm of torque at 2400 - 4000 rpm and is connected to an Xtronic CVT driving the front wheels. A 5-speed manual version is also available and it makes more torque at 160 Nm. Horsepower, however, remains the same at 100 PS. New to the 2024 Almera is cruise control (CVT only) which the pre-facelifted version lacked.
When it comes to safety, all variants of the 2024 Almera come with; 6 airbags, anti-lock brakes with electronic brakeforce distribution, brake assist, vehicle dynamic controls, ISOFIX child seat anchors, and hill-start assist. As before, Nissan Intelligent Mobility is also available in the updated Almera and includes; a blind-spot warning, rear-cross traffic alert, lane departure warning, high-beam assist, around-view monitor, and forward emergency braking. Exclusive only to the VL is a tire pressure monitoring system.
