Chery Tiggo 8 Pro PHEV makes its presence felt at 10th PH EV Summit
Chery arrives at 2022 PH EV Summit with flagship plug-in hybrid Tiggo 8
With greener automotive choices becoming more widely available in the local automotive scene, Chery Auto Philippines showcased the all-new Tiggo 8 Pro Plug-in Hybrid Electric Vehicle (PHEV) at the 10th Philippine Electric Vehicle Summit (PEVS) at the SMX Convention Center.
Unveiled last April during the 2022 Manila International Auto Show along with its other variant, the Tiggo 8 Pro 1.6 Turbo Gasoline Direct Injection, the award-winning Tiggo 8 PRO PHEV is set to electrify the spirits of the Filipino motoring public with its impressive specifications and a complete suite of eco-friendly features and safety kits.
The all-new Tiggo 8 Pro PHEV boasts the right mix of performance and sustainability. It has an exceptional acceleration figure of 0 – 60 km/h in just 5 seconds, while also maintaining a claimed fuel economy of 1.2 liters per 100 kilometers or 83 km/l. It has raised the bar among the PHEV segment in the market, with its breakthrough benchmarks for performance.
Further highlighting its eco-friendly nature is its ability to travel on pure electric power up to 95 km on a fully-charged battery. Another great addition is the three different driving modes – Eco, Sports, and Normal – giving the option to customize drives for different terrains and situations.
Powering the PHEV is a 1.5-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine that is helped by dual electric motors. It has a combined output of 320 PS along with 545 Nm of torque. Power is then sent to a unique dedicated hybrid transmission. Complementing the plug-in hybrid powertrain is a battery pack that Chery claims can last up to 10 years. The battery can be charged from fully drained to 100% for only 3-5 hours by plugging the vehicle into a standard 220V household power outlet with a proper earth-ground setup.
Aside from offering an electrified drive, the Tiggo 8 Pro PHEV comes with plenty of luxurious appointments. It has black leather seats that are double-stitched for a more premium finish and is paired with a soft-touch dashboard and multi-color ambient light. Infotainment comes in the form of a 12.3-inch touchscreen that supports Apple CarPlay, Android QDLink, Bluetooth, and wireless mobile charging. Last but not least is an 8-speaker sound system from Sony that provides a unique aural experience.
