Apple CarPlay, Android Auto coming to Suzuki Celerio soon
When Suzuki Philippines officially launched the 2023 S-Presso AGS a couple of days ago, we were surprised by the number of standard features it came with. Aside from the aforementioned Auto Gear Shift (AGS), the tiny high-riding hatchback now gets engine auto start/stop (EASS), hill-hold control, an electronic stability program, and dual front airbags for extra peace of mind.
But what really surprised us is its new touchscreen infotainment system. In both the manual and AGS versions, the high-riding hatchback comes with a new-generation audio display with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto as standard. By our estimates, this makes the 2023 S-Presso one of the most affordable vehicles to come with the said mobile apps.
Seeing that Suzuki's most affordable offering comes with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, we had to ask the automaker if the Celerio will get those features too. Currently, the Celerio has a 6.2-inch touchscreen infotainment from Sony that features AM/FM radio, Bluetooth, USB, and Weblink 2.0 for pairing smartphones. Sadly, it doesn't come with Android Auto or Apple CarPlay.
During the launch of the 2023 S-Presso, we managed to talk with Kennedy Adia, Assistant Manager at Suzuki Philippines. Aside from sharing with us that the 2023 S-Presso AGS will not affect sales of the Celerio, he also confirmed with us that the Celerio will be getting Android Auto and Apple CarPlay in the future. There's no exact timeline as to when the hatchback will get the mobile apps. However, Adia did say that they will be coming soon.
With Android Auto and Apple CarPlay becoming must-have features on brand-new cars, it's no surprise automakers like Suzuki are making it available in their model lineup. Hopefully, Suzuki makes the mobile apps available for the Celerio as soon as possible.
