This week, the new Geely Motor Philippines has announced they have officially taken over all the business operations related to the Geely brand in the Philippine market, serving as a direct subsidiary of Geely Auto International.
In the same week, Geely has also officially re-entered the Indonesian market – and this is where we could have a glimpse of what the new Geely Motor Philippines could offer once they start revitalizing their lineup.

Making its debut in Indonesia is the much-awaited Geely EX5 EV. It’s the Southeast Asian debut of the electric crossover under its Geely name, as it is being marketed as the Proton eMas7 in Malaysia. The EX5 for the Indonesian market will be made at the new PT Handal Indonesia Motor plant in Bekasi, but packs the exact features of the unit that we drove in China.
The EX5 runs on a single motor setup producing 218 PS and 320 Nm of torque, powered by either a 49.52 kWh or a 60.22 kWh Aegis short-blade LFP battery. The former provides up to 345 km of range while the bigger battery takes the EX5 up to nearly 500 km based on the NEDC cycle. Performance-wise, the EX5’s electric setup can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 6.9 seconds.

Along with the EX5, Geely has also given a preview to its 7-car lineup for the Indonesian market. Those consist of the new Coolray, the aforementioned EX5, the Monjaro, new Okavango, the Geome EV, the Galaxy Starship 7 PHEV, and a possible special model of the new Coolray. That means, Geely’s lineup for Indonesia will consist of BEVs, PHEVs, and traditional ICEs.
Geely Motor Philippines said on their official announcement that they plan to offer a diverse range of powertrains under the new management, so this could be our closest look to what we can expect from GMP this 2025.
