Radar RD6 cabin take a page off the Geely Okavango
Geely’s Radar RD6 pickup is starting to carve out a new market segment and has also started to build a following online. Continuing our coverage of this EV pickup, we came across official pictures of the interior.
Geely PR @AshinChina released on Twitter four images showing off the interior of the RD6 and it looks quite familiar. Autohome also came out with more photos a couple of hours after. To say it looks like the Okavango’s interior hits the nail on the head. The only difference is the lower and wider shifter but everything else seems familiar.
It also gets the same drive selector and electronic parking brake. The center console is identical. People who are already familiar with the layout will feel right at home. With the dimensions of the vehicle quite near Toyota's famed Hilux, customers may have no problem driving it around on local roads if this makes it there.
As we compared both interiors, we also noticed the infotainment screen being different and may even have a newer OS version compared to what Geely is using now. We also noticed that the bezels seem to be a little bit smaller. The air-conditioning vents are still the same and so are the toggle switches under the infotainment screen.
Door panels in both green and brown colorways also look identical and may even feature the same soft-touch leather on all the touch points of the cabin. Even the steering wheel looks and probably feels like the other SUV steering wheels of the Chinese brand.
With Radar RD6 and Geely teasing more of the truck as the months go by, we can’t help but wonder what else will the Chinese car maker do to try to sell the vehicle more. Gelly is planning to launch the truck on September 9 of this year but will debut at the 2022 Chengdu Motor show this August 26.
The success of Geely locally and the familiar cabin fixtures and appointments of the RD6's cabin make this pickup a really strong contender in our local truck wars. That’s if Geely brings it in.
