ANG launches all-new Ram 1500 Rebel to challenge F-150

There’s a new pick-up truck in town, and it has set its sights against the Ford F-150.

This is the 2022 Ram 1500 Rebel and it looks mean as heck. Serving as the new top-of-the-line version of the 1500 series pick-up truck, the Rebel gets an imposing exterior, a high-tech yet rugged interior, and an all-American V8 under the hood.

Starting with its exterior, the Ram 1500 Rebel sports blacked-out accents throughout its body. This can be seen on the LED headlight bezels, side mirror caps, front grille, front/rear bumpers, stylish 18-inch alloy wheels, and hood decals. As an added touch, Ram also put black body graphics on the rear fenders, doors, and ‘RAM’ lettering on the tailgate.

Besides looking tough, Ram also made sure the exterior of the 1500 Rebel is practical. It gets a huge bed at the back, a dampened tailgate for easier opening/closing, side steps/bed step courtesy of Mopar, an exterior 115V A/C outlet on the bed, and a truck bed divider for easier stowage of gear.

If you want to set your Rebel for a tailgate party, the pick-up has an extra storage/display area called the RamBox. Placed on the rear fenders of the Ram 1500 Rebel, this can be used to store small items or turn them into a makeshift cooler when you’re glamping or having a party.

Hop inside the Rebel, and leather-lined greet both the driver and passengers. But perhaps serving as the main centerpiece inside the truck is the huge 12-inch touchscreen infotainment display. It comes with Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, Aux, USB, Bluetooth, as well as navigation. The touchscreen system also manages the other onboard features like the heated/ventilated front seats, dual-zone automatic climate control, and heated steering wheel.

To make more space on the center console, Ram replaced the traditional gear selector with a dash-mounted rotary-style knob. Also placed near the knob are buttons for the 4WD system, automatic engine start/stop, hill-descent control, as well as the axle lock.

Other available features present on the Ram 1500 Rebel are power-adjustable pedals, power-adjustable front seats, 7-inch TFT multi-info display, voice command for the infotainment system, floor carpets, and a 9-speaker system with subwoofer.

At the heart of this Rebel is a 5.7-liter, naturally-aspirated HEMI V8. It puts out a healthy 395 PS at 5600 rpm, along with 556 Nm of torque at 3950 rpm. Power is then transferred to an eight-speed automatic transmission and it comes with a four-wheel-drive system.
