Upon visiting the Lexus Philippines website, we saw that the all-new LX is available for pre-order. We’ve also found out the prices and the variants available for the local market. Yes, you read that right, variants. For reference, the previous-generation LX was available in one trim level only. This time around, customers will be able to choose between two variants.

For the 2022 LX, the two options are a 7-seater or a 5-seater. For the first time, Lexus Philippines will be offering the 5-seater variant in the country. What’s even more interesting is that the 5-seater will come in F-Sport trim, another first for the market.

Previously, only the sedans and smaller crossovers were available with the F-Sport variant in the country. But now, even the flagship SUV is offered with it. Compared to the standard LX, the F-Sport variant features a more aggressive exterior design. The slatted grille is replaced with a mesh unit, while the bumper comes with larger side intakes. Other styling changes include a rear bumper with an integrated diffuser and a different of wheels.

We have yet to find out the exact specifications of each variant. However, the website does say the SUV will use the twin-turbo 3.5-liter V6 gasoline engine that produces 409 horsepower and 650 Nm torque. That engine is paired with a 10-speed automatic transmission that sends power to all four wheels. We suspect that will be the lone engine available as the diesel option was never offered in the country before.

The LX has always been an expensive SUV, and this new one is no exception. The “entry-level” 7-seater variant will retail for PHP 9,958,000, while the 5-seater F-Sport variant will cost PHP 10,228,000. For reference, the previous-generation LX sold for around PHP 8,700,000, making this new one cost over PHP 1 million more. It’s a big price jump, but it’s similar to the pricing of the new Land Cruiser 300; from the PHP 4 million range, the LC 300 now starts at the PHP 5 million mark.

There’s some bad news, though. We’re told that the queue for the new LX is quite long already. So if you want one, it’s best to contact the Lexus Manila dealership today. Apart from demand, the waiting list is also due to the production issues the company is currently facing.
