Maxus joins the three-row SUV wars with the D90
There's a new SUV in town, and it wants a slice of the three-row midsize SUV market currently being dominated by the likes of the Toyota Fortuner, Ford Everest, Mitsubishi Montero Sport, and Isuzu mu-X.
It's the 2022 Maxus D90, and we were surprised it is already available in the country. That's because we only just found out about it while checking Maxus Philippines' website.
The 2022 D90 now serves as Maxus' flagship SUV in the country. Measuring 5005mm long, 1932mm wide, 1875mm tall, with a 2950mm wheelbase, the D90 is also the biggest SUV in its lineup.
Like the smaller D60, the D90 features a similar exterior design that consists of a large front grille, sharp LED headlights with LED daytime running lights, muscular wheel arches, stylish 19-inch alloy wheels, and wraparound LED taillights. The bodywork is also complemented by sleek lines, a faux front skid plate, side steps, and additional silver trim.
Since the D90 serves as the new flagship SUV, it is quite loaded with features and other amenities. Step inside, and you'll find power-adjustable leather seats with a diamond quilt pattern, a massive 12-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay/Android Auto, an 8-speaker sound system, dual-zone automatic climate control, and keyless entry with push-start.
Other features include steering wheel-mounted paddle shifters, cruise control, anti-glare rearview mirror, tire pressure monitoring system, front and rear parking sensors, reverse camera, and a power tailgate.
Under the hood, the D90 uses a 2.0-liter turbo-diesel engine. In the 4x2 version, the engine makes use of a single turbo that makes 161 PS with 375 Nm of torque. Meanwhile, the 4x4 variant benefits from a bi-turbo setup which amps up the output to 216 PS with 480 Nm of torque. Both engines are paired to an eight-speed automatic transmission.
When it comes to safety features, the D90 has plenty. All variants come with anti-lock brakes (ABS) with electronic brakeforce distribution (EBD), brake assist (BA), traction control system (TCS), electronic stability program (ESP), hill-start assist (HSA), hill-descent control (HDC), and roll movement intervention (RMI). It also has dual front, side, and curtain airbags, ISOFIX anchors, and even a driver fatigue monitor.
Available colors for the 2022 Maxus D90 are Agate Red, Amber Golden, Blanc White, Lava Ash, Obsidian Black, and Water Blue.
The 2022 D90 in 4x2 trim retails for PHP 1,918,000 while the 4x4 version has a sticker price of PHP 2,268,000. However, Maxus has a special PHP 100,000 discount for both variants – bringing their prices down to PHP 1,818,000 and PHP 2,168,000, respectively.
