All-new Ford Mustang still comes with American muscle

We already know that Ford Philippines plans to launch the all-new Mustang later this year. While the company has yet to officially announce its plans, an insider was able to share with us that the Blue Oval is looking at officially revealing it during the “-ber” months.

Since it's already September, we might not have to wait that long for the all-new pony car's arrival. But how can we be sure that the next-generation Mustang is set to arrive soon?

Thanks to another insider, we confirmed one of the engines the Mustang will get in the Philippines. We recently received information that Ford PH already has government approval for a passenger car with a displacement of 5038cc, which rounds it up to a 5.0-liter gasoline engine. After cross-referencing the engine's displacement, it is indeed the 5.0-liter Coyote V8.

While the exact specifications are not yet available at this time, we won't be surprised if the V8 will produce the same figures as the US-spec version. Just before Christmas last year, Ford revealed that the 5.0-liter Coyote V8 now makes 487 PS and 562 Nm of torque which translates to an increase of 30 PS and an extra 5 Nm of pull.

While it's nice to see that the Mustang will still be available with a V8 under the hood, we were left wondering if the 2.3-liter EcoBoost four-cylinder will still be offered here in the Philippines. That's because while we saw an approval for the 5.0-liter V8, we didn't get to see any approvals for the EcoBoost engine. However, the approval for the 2.3-liter EcoBoost engine might have yet to be released.

We can expect the all-new Ford Mustang to make its official debut in the country before the year ends. Perhaps the only question now is could we also get the Dark Horse version of the next-gen Mustang?
