It’s been a long time coming, but Mitsubishi Motor Philippines Corporation (MMPC) is about to join the plug-in hybrid (PHEV) arena. 

Making its public debut at the 2026 Philippine International Motor Show (PIMS) is the refreshed Outlander GT PHEV. The fourth-generation electrified crossover recently received important upgrades that give it better EV & total system range, a retuned suspension, minor exterior changes, and updated interior features.

While Mitsubishi PH has yet to officially state its exact specifications, we were able to check out what could be its final equipment list via the Department of Energy's (DOE) list of recognized PHEVs.

Starting with the powertrain upgrades, the Outlander GT AWD PHEV gets a new 22.7 kWh lithium-ion battery pack (previous 20 kWh), which Mitsubishi claims gives the crossover up to 86 km of EV range, based on the WLTP cycle. It also has two electric motors, with the front unit making 116 PS with 255 Nm, while the rear motor produces 136 PS with 195 Nm of torque. Last but not least is a 2.4L naturally aspirated engine that makes 133 PS with 195 Nm of torque.

With both the engine and electric motors working together, Mitsubishi says the Outlander GT generates a combined 306 PS. More importantly, the AWD PHEV has a total system range of 844 km, which was made possible thanks to the bigger battery and a larger 53-liter fuel tank capacity. It also has selectable drive modes available: EV, Series, Hybrid, and Parallel Hybrid.

As mentioned earlier, Mitsubishi tweaked the suspension in the latest update to deliver a better ride quality. This was made possible with the use of lightweight and rigid aluminum suspension components. Meanwhile, it has AWD modes such as  Normal, Eco, Power, Gravel, Mud, and Snow available to ensure there is always traction at the wheels.

Looks-wise, the Outlander GT features the brand’s Dynamic Shield design language, along with a massive grille with active shutters. Meanwhile, huge 20-inch six-spoke alloy wheels wrapped in 255/45 series tires and updated LED headlights & taillights complement the PHEV’s more stylish but subtly refreshed looks.

Size-wise, the Outlander GT PHEV measures 4720mm long, 1862mm wide, and 1751mm tall on a 2704mm wheelbase. It also has 199mm of ground clearance, a curb weight of 2115 kg, and a payload capacity of 570 liters. Unlike other markets, which get three rows of seats, the PH-spec Outlander GT AWD PHEV is only a 5-seater.

Open the doors, and the Outlander GT AWD welcomes occupants into a stylish and feature-packed cabin. It has a new 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment display that supports Apple CarPlay & Android Auto, full leather upholstery, heated & ventilated power-adjustable front seats with memory function for the driver, a 12.3-inch digital instrument panel, a three-zone climate control, a multi-around-view monitor, and a hands-free power tailgate.

Other available features in the Outlander GT AWD PHEV include a power sunroof, 60:40 split rear seats, a wireless charging pad, sunshades for the rear passengers, smart keyless entry, and a 240V power outlet. Mitsubishi also equipped the PHEV with intelligent driver aids, such as blind-spot warning, lane departure warning, lane-change assist, forward collision warning, automatic high-beams, driver attention alert, and rear-cross traffic alert.

With MMPC already giving the public a good look at the Outlander GT PHEV, the Japanese automaker has announced the official launch will take place by August 2026.
