Porsche 911 Targa 4S Heritage Edition is a proper throwback

A few weeks ago, Porsche officially unveiled the 2020 911 Targa. Serving as the latest (and perhaps most stylish) 911 variant of the current 992-generation, the 911 Targa is one of the brand’s most recognizable body styles besides the coupe and the cabriolet.

To celebrate the Targa’s return, Porsche revealed a special edition version. Called the 911 Targa 4S Heritage Design Edition, this particular model features heritage design elements reinterpreted with modern technology and design.

Starting on the outside, it is finished in either this exclusive Cherry Metallic paint or four other exterior colors; and is accented with gold badges, to give it a 1950s feel. The spear-shaped livery on the front fenders serves as a throwback to the early days of Porsche motorsports.

To top it all off, the new 911 Targa 4S Heritage Design Edition comes with a rear decklid grill reminiscent when old 356 models reached 100,000 km mark, a classic Porsche Crest on the front luggage compartment lid, and 20/21-inch Carrera Exclusive Design Wheels with classic-style brake calipers finished in black.

Like the exterior, the cabin of this 911 Targa also pays tribute to the past. Both the seats and the door trim are finished in corduroy which was previously used on the 356. It is then complemented by an exclusive two-tone upholstery which combines Bordeaux Red leather and Club Leather in Atacama Beige or Black Leather. The tachometer and dash-mounted stopwatch of the standard Sport Chrono Package feature green illumination for an added touch.

If that’s not enough, Porsche Design even made a pristine, high-quality timepiece that is exclusively available to those that will buy the limited edition Targa. The mechanical watch features an elegant and clean design that reflects the classic look of the car itself.

Drawing inspiration from such models like the 356, and the original 911 Targa, the design of the face with its white seconds hand and Phosphorus Green rings is based on the speedometer and rev counter of the cars. Meanwhile, the hour indices were designed following the signature lettering typically used for Porsche. Finally, the strap is made of genuine Porsche interior leather and comes with a distinct ‘911’ embossing.

Want one? Better think fast, as only 992 examples of the Targa 4S Heritage Design Edition will be made. The $14,000 watch is only available to customers who buy the limited edition car.
