Spied: Next-gen BMW X5 M spotted in prototype form

It was back in April 2017 when BMW was last seen testing the all-new X5. It was quite the nimble crossover according to our spies and had, more or less, an evolutionary design. With the heavy camouflage however, it was hard to tell as to what BMW plans on changing up on the X5's design.

Now, our insiders were able to spot what appears to be the more powerful version of the upcoming crossover, the X5 M. Like the standard version, the X5 M gets the same camouflage treatment. However, we do get to see four exhaust pipes exiting at the back, along with large disc brakes with blue calipers. 

Also different are the multi-spoke alloy wheels though these may have come from existing models. Huge kidney grills dominate the front fascia while tapered headlights and large lower air intakes are also seen on the heavily camouflaged X5 M.

It is expected that the next-gen X5 M will also ride on the CLAR platform which is currently seeing use in the new 5-Series and 7-Series. It is also set to underpin the all-new Rolls-Royce Phantom. Supposedly, the CLAR platform will be lighter, allowing for a more agile crossover.

The new-generation BMW X5 M could make its world debut in late 2018.
