Toyota debuts Yaris L sedan, Vios hatch for China
Toyota's Chinese factories decide to build their own versions of Yaris and Vios

Toyota Motor Corporation has recently unveiled the Yaris L Sedan and the Vios FS Hatch at this year's Guangzhou Motor Show, providing new variants for the Chinese market.
Not to be confused with the Vios sedan, also sold in China, the Yaris L sedan is available through the Guangzhou Automobile Group Motor Co., Ltd. (GAC) Motor, with its own unique stylings. Meanwhile the Vios L hatchback is assembled and sold through its partnership with FAW Toyota Motor. However, both companies became interested in other segments, leading to the development of these new variants for each car.

The Yaris L sedan features a the distinct front fascia tht separates it from the Vios sedan. The rear end meanwhile gets a mildly tweaked version from the Vios Sedan with its LED taillights and revamped rear bumper.
As for the Vios hatch, it also has its own front fascia, with a different set of headlights and a new T-shapped upper grill. It is also equipped with a wider lower grill integrated to the front fog lights and is accented by vertical LED daytime running lights.

The rear of the Vios hatch retains the familiar design from the models in the ASEAN market. The tail lights are upgraded to LED units with slimmer indicators plus a mildly tweaked rear bumper.
Both the Vios hatch and Yaris L receive the same 1.3-liter Dual VVT-i engine producing 99 PS and the bigger 1.5-liter rated at 107 PS. The engine can then be mated to either a CVT with a seven-speed manual mode or a five-speed manual gearbox.
