It's been in Western markets for quite some time already. We even thought it would be a long wait until we got it, but now it's here. Yes, the all-new Hyundai Accent has arrived in the Philippines. Not only that, we are the first country in the ASEAN region to officially get it.

The Philippine-spec model looks similar to the one that was previewed during the 2018 Kuala Lumpur International Motor Show. With that, it adapts the 'mini-Elantra' design with dramatic curves and sweeps throughout the body. There's the signature Y-shaped grill as seen in the Santa Fe and Kona, along with more aggressive upswept headlights.

A bold character line that strikes through the doors defines its sides. Also, the window line sweeps upwards, and the rood gets a coupe-like profile. As for the rear, it gets slim wraparound tail lights and a rounded off rear bumper.

Inside, it's a dramatic change from the soon to be outgoing model. The dashboard layout is similar to that to the Elantra with its T-bar arrangement. Its radio is set higher than before and is flanked by air-conditioning vents. Air-con controls are also set higher, freeing up space in the center console. A thicker-rimmed steering wheel and new multi-information display graphics greet the driver. Standard on all models are rear air-conditioning vents.

For those hoping for the diesel model, we're glad to report that Hyundai Philippines will continue offering it in the all-new model. Specs are still the same meaning that 1.6-liter CRDI still makes 128 PS and 260 Nm of torque. As for transmission options, it's either a five-speed manual or six-speed automatic for the gas models, and a six-speed manual or a six-speed automatic.
