The Trailblazer SUV may be gone, but in its place is an all-new model. After announcing its arrival last week, the bow-tie brand's new compact crossover is now in the country.
Chevrolet distributor The Covenant Car Company Inc (TCCCI) has officially revealed the 2022 Trailblazer. Aimed to take on the likes of the Nissan X-Trail, Subaru Forester, and Mazda CX-5, Chevy's newest offering combines sporty appeal, high-tech amenities, and a turbocharged heart.
“We are proud to introduce the all-new 2022 Chevy Trailblazer to the Philippine market. The Trailblazer is a continuation of the new design language for Chevy’s crossover family and extends our momentum into one of the industry’s fastest-growing segments. It continues the SUV heritage of the revered nameplate and is now loaded with safety and convenience features that anticipate the needs of today’s most discerning customers,” said Atty. Albert B. Arcilla, president and CEO of TCCCI.
Starting with its design, the Trailblazer features a Camaro-inspired front fascia thanks to its dual-port grille. It also has an accent bar in the middle that integrates with the headlights – giving it a wider appearance. On top of the headlights are the sleek LED daytime running lights which add to the sporty look of the Trailblazer.
Sharp lines, muscular curves, and black body cladding help give the Trailblazer more character when viewed from the side. Further highlighting its sleek looks are the 17-inch aluminum-alloy wheels wrapped in 225/60/R17 tires. Wraparound LED taillights, a tailgate-mounted spoiler, and a faux rear skid plate round up the Trailblazer's exterior styling.
Dimension-wise, the Trailblazer measures 4408mm long, 1808mm wide, and 2052mm tall. It also has a 2640mm wheelbase and a 178mm ground clearance.
Inside, Chevrolet combined a sporty and luxurious interior. It gets an all-black interior that's spruced up with faux chrome accents that can be seen on the aircon vents, dashboard grab handle, leather-wrapped steering wheel, and climate control dials.
When it comes to amenities, the Trailblazer gets an 8-inch MyLink touchscreen infotainment. It supports AM/FM radio, Bluetooth, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, USB, and Aux. Other available features include automatic climate control, a 6-speaker sound system, heated front seats, push-button start, keyless entry, and a hands-free tailgate.
A 1.3-liter three-cylinder turbo powers the all-new Trailblazer. Dubbed E-Turbo, the all-aluminum engine produces 155 PS at 5600 rpm along with 236 Nm of torque at 1600 – 4000 rpm. Power is then sent to the front wheels via a continuously variable transmission (CVT). To help save on fuel, the E-Turbo comes with an automatic start/stop system.
All variants of the Trailblazer come with the following safety features; anti-lock brakes (ABS) with electronic brakeforce distribution (EBD), brake assist (BA), traction control (TC), electronic stability control (ESC), hill-start assist (HSA), cornering brake control (CBC), and torque vectoring.
To give drivers extra peace of mind, both the Premier and LT variants come with the Advanced Driver Assistance (ADA) system. This gives the crossover intelligent driver aids like a forward collision alert, automatic emergency braking, lane-keep assist with departure warning, lane-change alert with departure warning, front pedestrian detection, reverse camera with parking sensors, rear-cross traffic alert, and a tire pressure monitoring system.
Available colors for the all-new Trailblazer include Abalone White Tri-Coat, Black Meet Kettle, Blue Glow Metallic, Crimson Metallic, Mahogany Red Metallic, Satin Steel Gray Metallic, Summit White, and Vivid Metallic.
Pricing of the 2022 Trailblazer is as follows:
