Kia EV9 global debut to happen this month

Just a few weeks ago, a production-spec version of the Kia EV9 was spotted along the roads of Chile. However, while it was undisguised, the leaked photos' quality really did not give the EV9 justice.

Now, Kia has taken over and released much, much better images of the all-new EV9 – their first three-row flagship electric SUV. But before we get all excited about the new model, Kia hasn't shared technical details just yet, as they are still preparing the EV9 for its digital debut sometime this month.

What we're left with is to admire the EV9's very SUV looks. As we've seen from the EV9 Concept back at the 2021 Los Angeles Motor Show, the EV9 adopted a boxy styling to give it a strong SUV presence, unlike the EV6 that's more of a shooting brake or a high-riding hatchback. Also, the production-spec model has better proportions over the EV9 Concept, as the edges are softer, the wheel wells are bigger, while traditional LED headlights replace the pixel-like pattern of the concept car.

Meanwhile, the rear of the vehicle has simple and clean lines, flanked by a set of slim LED taillights that form a Y pattern.

As expected, the production EV9 doesn't have the rear suicide doors anymore, and what it's left with is the conventional arrangement. However, step inside the EV9 and you're greeted with a surprise – the 2nd-row seats have a swivel function.

The dashboard has the slab-style display housing like the one on the EV6 and fits the dual 12.3-inch displays for instrumentation and infotainment purposes. The photos look like the EV9 will have a light gray motif inside, but we'll see if this will change once the EV is revealed to the public.

There are no official figures yet for the EV9's electric powertrain. But since the SUV rides on Kia-Hyundai's E-GMP platform, the EV9's electric architecture could allow for fast DC charging, together with short and long-range versions with different battery capacities.

Kia says the EV9 will debut before the end of March. That said, we'll keep our eyes peeled for more information about the new flagship electric SUV in the coming days.
