Product Review: Sonax Car Breeze

An instant breeze of 'fresh air' for your car

It doesn't matter what car it is. All will lose that “new car smell” over time whether they like it or not. It's also a scent that will never come back. After all, you load up cars with passengers, goods, pets, or all of the above.

It's through the everyday usage and exposure to different elements that a car develops certain (mostly unpleasant) odors, whether it be smoke, sweat, or even pet smells. These tend to cling on to the various surfaces and materials present in the car's interior. Once these odors stick they are generally hard to get rid of. Even then the usual solutions tend to just mask the odors and not eliminate them. Give it a few weeks and your car will be back to smelling like its old self.

So now would be a good time to try out the Sonax Car Breeze spray. This product can be applied on certain surfaces such as upholstery, linings, seats, carpets. There are also uses outside of automotive applications, such as textiles, shoes, or even clothing. Sonax says it's specifically developed to get rid of nasty smells, be it nicotine, sweat, or pet "incidents". 

Sonax is also saying that all of the ingredients used are vegetable-based as opposed to purely chemical. It could be said then that using this product won't hurt the skin if you ever come in contact with it. Of course, you should wash it off immediately if that happens just to be sure. 

It’s important to note though that Sonax Car Breeze is not a disinfectant or has any anti-bacterial properties, It still is considered an air freshener with strong odor eliminating capabilities.

We were able to test just how effective the Sonax Car Breeze is during a supply run to the supermarket. Fresh seafood and some frozen meats were some of the items bought, and as we know these items tend to leave a “fishy” or raw meat smell that tends to be unpleasant and hard to remove, but upon spraying the trunk space with Sonax Car Breeze the spray didn’t just mix with the odor and try to mask it, instead it was able to replace the smell with a welcome scent of citrus. The same could be said when applied to the seat upholstery, and other interior surfaces.                                                              

Its also worth noting that it's not an overpowering scent, it’s noticeable but not abrasive to the sinuses. In terms of the longevity of the scent, while it will fade from the interior as a whole, it tends to stay longer on the specific surface it was sprayed on.

So there you have it, if your car's interior is currently plagued by unwanted odors and you’re unhappy with the result of other odor alleviating solutions, the Sonax Car Breeze may be worth a try. At a cost of Php 610 per 500ml bottle, it won't hurt the wallet as well.
