Say hello to the 2020 Jeep Renegade
After weeks of teasing, Jeep Philippines has introduced one of its latest models in the country. Making its official debut is the 2020 Jeep Renegade. Bolder, more affordable and choc-full of standard amenities, the smallest Jeep in the range gets an exterior makeover, along with a significant price cut.
That's because the 2020 Renegade is now sourced from China. Taking advantage of the China-ASEAN Free Trade Agreement (China-AFTA), Jeep Philippines was able to drop the price of the 2020 Renegade while still delivering a quality product via the company's World Class Manufacturing (WCM) program. But before we get to how affordable the new 2020 Renegade costs, let's start off by taking a look at what it has.
Beginning with its looks, the Renegade now sports a sleeker seven-slot front grill painted black, redesigned headlights with daytime running lights, and a slightly bigger front air intake. Meanwhile, the taillights get mild design tweaks with the rear getting a bigger bumper, and a revised tailgate design. It is then finished off with new 17-inch alloy wheels wrapped in 215/60/R17 tires.
Inside, the driver is treated to a leather-wrapped steering wheel complete with multimedia buttons, along with a leather shift knob for the gear selector. In-car entertainment is provided by a 7-inch touchscreen display with Uconnect4.
It comes standard with the following functions: USB, Bluetooth, intelligent voice control, and AM/FM radio. But perhaps its most important feature is Apple CarPlay which makes for seamless iPhone integration.
Other standard amenities equipped on the 2020 Renegade are a six-speaker sound system, dual-zone automatic climate control, 60:40 split rear seats, one-touch front and rear power windows, and a double-pane sunroof.
Under the hood, the Renegade is powered by a 1.4-liter turbocharged inline-four that benefits from auto engine start/stop for better fuel economy. It puts out 147 PS at 5500 rpm along with 230 Nm of torque. It is then connected to a seven-speed dry dual-clutch transmission. The 2020 Renegade is only available in 4x2 front-wheel-drive.
A bevy of safety features are fitted standard on the 2020 Renegade – anti-lock brakes with electronic brakeforce distribution, brake assist, electronic roll mitigation, electronic stability control, traction control, reverse camera with parking sensors, electronic parking brake, tire pressure monitoring system, and a host of airbags for the front and rear passengers.
The 2020 Jeep Renegade is available in two variants – namely the Longitude and the top-of-the-line Limited. The former retails for PhP 1,640,000 while the Limited sells for PhP 1,790,000. To further sweeten the deal, Auto Nation Group is giving early-bird customers a PhP 50,000 launch discount for the 2020 Renegade which is valid from now until June 30, 2020.
