2022 Ford Transit Electric revealed with rather short 200 km range
Ford wants to change how commercial vans move with Electric Transit

With almost every automaker offering an electric passenger vehicle, perhaps it's high time that an electric commercial vehicle is made available to the public too. Well, Ford was able to do just that.
After first announcing that they were working on a zero-emissions van last March, the Blue Oval has officially revealed the 2022 Transit Electric. Billed by the company as a smart workhorse thanks to its fully-electric powertrain, this EV can deliver the goods without a drop of fuel and can double as a mobile generator at a worksite.

At the heart of the Transit Electric is an electric motor that's rated to produce 266 HP and 430 Nm of torque. This is made possible via a 67 kWh battery pack. With it, Ford claims that the EV can have a maximum payload of 1,724 kilograms. Ford added that they are also targeting to hit 1,946 kilograms for a cutaway version of the Transit Electric.
In terms of range, the Transit can cover over 200 kilometers before needing a recharge. Now while it may not have an extensive range like most electric cars, do remember that the Transit is still a heavy commercial vehicle.

Need the Transit Electric to power a worksite or several electric devices in a disaster? The Transit Electric can come with the optional Pro Power Onboard which serves as a mobile generator. It can provide up to 2.4 kilowatts of power which Ford claims can power tools and other equipment.
Providing infotainment is a 12-inch touchscreen display that runs on Ford's SYNC 4 system. It comes with the usual suite of media features along with voice recognition, cloud-enhanced navigation, and telematics services.

Worried about storage space being affected by the Transit Electric's batteries? There's no need to as the battery packs are located underneath the floor. This means that the same cargo dimensions from the non-electric version have been retained. In addition, those that plan to customize the interior can do so without having to think about moving the battery pack. All in all, Ford claims the Transit Electric can carry 487.3 cubic inches of cargo.

Will the Transit Electric be offered here in PH? For now, the Blue Oval said that deliveries of the Transit Electric in the U.S. will begin in late 2021. In addition, the company will be manufacturing the Transit Electric at the Kansas City Assembly Plant in Missouri. With the PH-spec Transit being sourced from Turkey, chances of the Transit Electric to be offered here are currently slim to none.
