Seventh generation BMW 7 Series to be revealed on March 27, 2023
SMC Asia Cars Distributors Inc., the official retailer of BMW in the Philippines, has been on a roll since 2023 began. The initial salvo started with the iX3 EV and was then followed by the all-new X1 which was just launched last week.
Soon, BMW Philippines will be revealing yet another vehicle. After making its global debut last year in Europe, the seventh-generation full-size luxury sedan will be launched in the country on March 27, 2023.
While BMW Philippines is still coy with the exact details, we already know what to expect once it’s fully revealed. For starters, the next-generation 7 Series features a boxier design than its predecessor. Adopting the new front fascia design first seen on the facelifted BMW X7, the full-size luxury saloon gets a more imposing front end thanks to a bigger dual kidney grille and a split headlight design.
The rear, meanwhile, gets a more sinister-looking design thanks to thinner LED taillights, a sporty diffuser on the back bumper, and the inverted trapezoidal exhausts that further highlight the sedan’s more aggressive looks.
Inside, the 2023 7 Series for the Philippine market will likely come with the brand’s massive 31.3-inch 8K theater-like screen display for the rear occupants. Not only does it provide a more cinematic experience, but it also comes with online streaming services as standard. It may also be fitted with two 5.5-inch tablets on either side of the rear door panels, along with an 18-speaker Bowers & Wilkins Diamond surround sound system.
Under the hood, a choice between a 3.0-liter turbo inline-six and a 4.4-liter twin-turbo V8 will be likely available for the next-generation 7 Series. The former benefits from a hybrid assist and makes a total system output of 375 PS and 540 Nm of torque. On the other hand, the latter comes with an all-wheel drive and generates 536 PS with 750 Nm of torque.
There's also the possibility that a 3.0-liter quad-turbo diesel six-cylinder engine may power the 7 Series. It makes 394 PS along with a healthy 760 Nm of pulling power. All engines are connected to an 8-speed automatic transmission.
Aside from being powered by conventional engines, the all-new 7 Series may also be available with a zero-emissions powertrain. Called the i7, the all-electric luxury sedan has two electric motors that produce a combined output of 536 PS and 744 Nm of torque. The AWD electric sedan has an estimated range of 480 km on a full charge and benefits from DC fast charging which allows it to have 120 km of range with just 10 minutes of charge.
With March 27 just one week away, stay tuned for more details as well as the model's official launch in the country very soon.
