Ford is gearing up to launch the all-new Ranger before the year ends. That was something the Blue Oval confirmed this last week when they released the first images (and video) of their next-generation pick-up truck, albeit camouflaged.

Despite the camo hiding most of its body, it's quite clear the all-new Ranger will have an F-150-inspired look thanks to the unique C-shaped LED daytime running lights (DRLs). It also has what appears to be a huge grille which may also be derived from Ford's best-selling pick-up truck.

But with Ford busy testing out the next-generation Ford Ranger, does this mean Volkswagen is also busy testing the all-new Amarok? According to Carscoops.com, the German automaker is indeed working on it.

This is our first look at the upcoming 2023 Volkswagen Amarok, and it was recently spotted over at Ford's test track over in Dearborn, Michigan. But what is it doing over in the US?

In 2019, Ford and Volkswagen formed an alliance to collaborate on trucks and vans. One of the most important collaborations between the two includes the Amarok and Ranger development. And it is clear that Volkswagen's pick-up will be based on Ford's design.

Back to the pick-up truck, the 2023 Amarok will have its own unique face. Despite the heavy camo, we can see that it will have a huge grille and horizontal LED DRLs which look very different from the C-shaped units the Ford Ranger has. We also got to see the Amarok's new LED taillights which appear to be nicely detailed as well.

While not clearly seen, the Amarok will also have its own hood design. Like the design sketches revealed before, the Volkswagen pick-up appears to have sculpted cuts on the hood which would make for a more stylish appearance. Last but not least are the alloy wheels which look like production units.

There's no exact timeline yet as to when Volkswagen plans to launch the all-new Amarok. But according to one of our insiders, Volkswagen Philippines is looking to bring the next-gen Amarok in 2023. This could mean that the automaker will launch the all-new pick-up truck sometime in 2022 in international markets.

With Ford and Volkswagen busy testing out their new pick-up trucks, we certainly cannot wait for the two vehicles to make their debut. The question is: if Volkswagen Philippines does push through with the Amarok in the future, where will they get it from?
