Save the date: All-new Chevy Trax debuts July 4, 2023
Last week, Chevrolet distributor The Covenant Car Company Inc (TCCCI) officially confirmed that the all-new Trax will be coming to the Philippines. This marks the return of the nameplate after a brief hiatus when TCCCI quietly discontinued the first-generation model several years ago.
So far, the automaker has been coy with the specifics of the next-generation crossover. Aside from the fact that it will be offered in the top-of-the-line RS trim, the bow-tie brand is not yet ready to share official details and specs.
Luckily, we were able to receive insider information that essentially confirms what engine the all-new Trax will have in the Philippines. Based on a recently approved government certification, the PH-spec Trax will have an engine size of 1199cc and will be gasoline-powered. After cross-referencing the engine size, the 2024 Trax for the PH market will come with a 1.2-liter turbocharged three-cylinder.
Based on what the US and Korea get, the 1.2-liter turbo produces 139 PS at 5000 rpm along with 219 Nm of torque between 2500 to 4000 rpm. Power is then transferred to a six-speed automatic transmission driving the front wheels.
Official dimensions are not yet available as of this writing. However, based on the US and Korean specs, the all-new Trax measures 4540mm long, 1825mm wide, 1560mm tall, and has a generous 2700mm wheelbase.
With the 2024 Chevrolet Trax set to make its Philippine debut on July 4, 2023, we’re only just weeks away from its return to the local market. We’ll be keeping our eyes and ears open for any new information or leaks about the new crossover.
