Hybrid powertrain gives is 739 PS and 950 Nm of torque
We never thought we would see the day when an SUV beats the most powerful 911 to date – the GT2 RS – but it has finally come. Porsche has revealed the latest variant of its top-selling SUV, and it will blow the competition away.
Say hello to the new Porsche Cayenne Turbo E-Hybrid. It gets a 130-kW electric motor and an updated version of the 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8. The combined output is 739 PS and 950 Nm of torque. That is enough to take it from 0-100 km/h in 3.7 seconds before it tops out at 295 km/h. The maximum electric driving range is 82 kilometers.
To ensure that you spend more time on the road and less time at charging stations, Porsche gives it a new 11 kW on-board charger that shortens the charging time (at a suitable wall charger or charging station) to under two-and-a-half hours despite the increase in battery capacity.
Adaptive air suspension is standard, but it has been revised with new two-chamber, two-valve technology to let it adjust the rebound and compression stages of the suspension’s operation separately. The result is enhanced comfort and safety in equal measure while offering an even wider spectrum between the Comfort and Sport Plus suspension settings. Porsche Torque Vectoring Plus (PTV Plus) is also standard, while Porsche Dynamic Chassis Control (PDCC) and rear-axle steering are available as options.
Both the Cayenne Turbo E-Hybrid SUV and Coupé bear distinctive front-end styling. Turbo models have enlarged cooling air intakes accented by shiny black airblades, two twin tailpipes in brushed stainless steel, and red brake calipers.
The cabin has aluminum inlays in the dashboard and the door panel trims, a Race-Tex roof lining, a heated GT sports steering wheel, a mode switch for fast and direct selection of the desired driving mode, and 18-way adjustable leather sports seats. 14-way adjustable leather comfort seats are available.
If you want to spruce it up, get the GT package. The body sits 10 millimeters lower and has GT-specific pivot bearings to increase the camber on the front axle by -0.58 degrees. The front wheels are wider for more dynamic steering response in corners, higher overall steering precision, and notably enhanced cornering grip. The high-performance Porsche Ceramic Composite Brake (PCCB) is also standard in the GT Package. On the body are black accents, black wheel arch extensions, carbon side plates on the roof spoiler, the centrally positioned tailpipes of the titanium exhaust system from the Turbo GT, and a carbon rear diffuser. The roof uses lightweight carbon fiber.
