2025 Nissan Patrol Y63 debuts September 4
All-new Nissan Patrol to get a more efficient, more powerful twin-turbo V6 powerplant

The Y62 generation Patrol has been serving as Nissan’s flagship SUV for the past 15 years, but now an official date is set for the arrival of its successor.
Nissan has officially announced the next-generation Patrol will make its debut on September 4, 2024. Along with the announcement, the Japanese automaker has shared teaser images of their upcoming off-road SUV, and will continue to do so each week in August ahead of its launch.

Last week, Nissan gave us a first look at the all-new Patrol’s grille that features horizontal slats on the upper section, and a honeycomb pattern that starts below the Nissan logo. It’s not a complete departure from the one found in the current-generation Y62 Patrol, and it’s being seen as more of an evolution of Nissan’s signature V-Motion design.
Meanwhile, the rear end will feature C-shaped vertical taillights unlike the horizontal treatment done to its luxury twin, the Infiniti QX80 that was revealed earlier this year. The Y63 Patrol also appears to have a small LED light strip in the middle that’s separated by the Nissan badge.

The rest of the body does not leave much to the imagination as the Y63 Patrol will share most of its body parts with the QX80, so expect more or less the same boxy silhouette in the Nissan SUV. Other details that will look different to the Y63 Patrol are the reprofiled side window line, and standard pull-type door handles.

Under the hood, the Y63 Patrol will feature the VR35DDTT – a 3.5-liter, twin turbo V6 engine. This replaces the naturally aspirated 5.6-liter V8 and is expected to deliver better fuel efficiency. In the QX80, the new engine produces more power at 450 PS and 700 Nm of torque.
Likewise, the Y63 Patrol is expected to have the new 9-speed automatic transmission, replacing the 7-speed unit in the V8 Y62.
As expected, the Middle East market is getting first dibs of Nissan's flagship SUV, while other markets will follow later in the year. More details should come as we move closer to the launch date. With that said, watch this space for further updates.
