All-new Bentley Continental GT Mulliner is the ultimate grand tourer
When Bentley unleashed the Continental GT Speed last year, it became the fastest production car out of the Crewe-based luxury automaker. With a stonking 6.0-liter twin-turbo W12 pushing out 659 PS with 900 Nm of torque and a top speed of 335 km/h, the GT Speed is a powerful grand tourer indeed.
But what's the use of going fast if you're not doing it in style? Bentley seemed to have thought of that idea and has released their latest creation. This is the 2023 Bentley Continental GT Mulliner, and it has some unique exterior and interior appointments.
Starting with the outside, this Mulliner wears a new 'Double Diamond' matrix grille that is unique only for this particular model. It is then complemented by matching front fender vents with the same silver and black design synonymous with Bentley's coachbuilder. Moving to the side mirror caps, they can be finished in either Satin Silver or Black complete with Mulliner puddle lamps beneath that light up. For extra flair, the Continental GT comes with illuminated door sills and huge 22-inch alloy wheels with self-leveling badges.
Step inside and a distinct colorway invites the driver and passengers. Exclusive to the Mulliner is a special three-color split that can be specified with 8 different color combinations. There will also be a choice of 88 Piano Wood veneers, and “diamond in diamond” quilting on the seats, door trims, and rear quarter panels that are made up of almost 400,000 stitches.
Since this is based on the Continental GT Speed, it comes with the same twin-turbo W12 powerplant that churns out almost 660 PS plus an impressive 900 Nm of pull. Mated to an 8-speed dual-clutch transmission that sends power to all four wheels, this big brute of a grand tourer can go from 0 – 100 km/h in just 3.6 seconds.
Besides having 12 cylinders nestled under the hood, the Continental GT also benefits from all-wheel steering, an electronic limited-slip differential with active torque vectoring, Bentley Dynamic Ride, carbon-ceramic brakes, and the three-chamber active air suspension with adaptive damping.
With the Continental GT W12 Mulliner now sitting atop the Bentley lineup, those that want to go fast and look great while doing it can now get one for themselves. Enthusiasts attending the 2022 Goodwood Festival of Speed can take a good look at the new Mulliner during the annual event.
