China's Great Wall Motors calls this the Tank

Last month, design sketches of what appear to be Great Wall Motors' (GWM) flagship SUV were leaked onto the web. Called the Tank 600, it was said to be the company's competitor to the Toyota Land Cruiser.

There's no exact date yet when Great Wall will reveal the upcoming SUV, but leaked photos of what appears to be the Tank 600 in production form have made their way onto the internet. 

If the images are to be believed, the Tank 600 will closely resemble the design sketches. It has an imposing front end featuring a huge chrome grille, large LED headlights, and an aggressive bumper. Further complementing the Tank 600's gargantuan size is its clamshell-style hood, muscular fenders, large wheels, and a full-size spare tire mounted on the tailgate.

Images of the SUV's interior have yet to be revealed. But given the vehicle's size, we expect the Tank 600 to come with three rows of seats. We won't be surprised if it can seat 7 or 8 people in total. Higher-trim models might also come with captain seats on the second row for added luxury.

The powerplant of the Tank 600 will reportedly be a 3.0-liter, twin-turbo gasoline V6. It will supposedly crank out 354 PS along with 500 Nm of torque. Power will then be sent to the wheels via an 8-speed or 9-speed automatic transmission derived from ZF. A hybrid powertrain is reportedly in the works for the Tank 600 as well.

Since it's set to take on the likes of the Land Cruiser, expect the Tank 600 to come with 4WD capability, locking differentials, and more to take on the toughest terrains.

With images of the Great Wall Tank 600 already leaked online, we might not have to wait long before it's fully revealed.
