Ford Bronco Everglades has a 925mm wading depth
The standard Ford Bronco is already a very capable SUV. It has power, ground clearance, and even off-road capability to match most of its competitors. For those who want something even more extreme, there’s also the Bronco Raptor. But for people who want to venture out into the deep unknown, including the flooded streets of Metro Manila, Ford has built a special edition Bronco just for you. It's called the Bronco Everglades.
It’s one of the most capable SUVs Ford has built yet. According to the automaker, it’s meant to go over any type of terrain. It’s based on the four-door model and is fitted with a snorkel and bumper-mounted winch. It also gets all of the off-road equipment in the Bronco Sasquatch Package straight from the factory, which includes 35-inch mud-terrain tires.
According to the company, the snorkel fitted onto the Bronco Everglades was engineered and developed in-house. It runs up the passenger A-pillar, optimizing vehicle performance in dust, snow, and water conditions by raising the intake above nasty trail conditions. It also uses two easy-to-swap plates to change the direction of the inlet based on the trail and weather conditions.
In addition to the snorkel, Ford also raised the vents of the SUV’s front and rear axles, transfer case, and transmission for improved water fording. As a result, the changes allow the Bronco Everglades to have a maximum wading depth of 925mm. To give you an idea of just how high that is, there is a sticker on the side of the SUV. If you look at the photo above, it’s nearly the same level as the hood of the Bronco.
With 925mm wading depth, it seems perfect for river crossings and even the flooded streets of the Philippines. There’s no word yet whether Ford plans to sell the Bronco locally. If they do, this is the variant to offer.
