TRB approves toll hike adjustment for SCTEX
Motorists that frequently take Subic Clark Tarlac Expressway (SCTEX) going to their destinations will have to shell out a bit more every time they enter the toll road.
The Toll Regulatory Board (TRB) has approved and authorized the implementation of an additional PHP 0.78 per kilometer at SCTEX.
According to the TRB, the toll increase for SCTEX will come into effect starting June 1, 2022. Under the new toll fee matrix, Class 1 vehicles traveling between Mabalacat City to Tarlac will be charged an additional PHP 31. Meanwhile, motorists with Class 2 vehicles traveling on the same route will pay an additional PHP 61. Last but not least, Class 3 vehicles that will take the same route will have to pay up an extra PHP 92.
As for motorists that will travel between Mabalacat City and Tipo, Hermosa, Bataan (near Subic Freeport), Class 1, Class 2, and Class 3 vehicles will have to shell out an additional PHP 49, PHP 98, and PHP 147, respectively.
To help public utility buses (PUBs) cope with the upcoming toll rate adjustment, they will be provided toll subsidies and allow them to continue to enjoy the old rates for the next 3 months.
With SCTEX toll rates set to increase this week, they are the latest expressway to hike toll fees following NLEX, SFEX, and CAVITEX's price adjustments. With that, motorists are advised to plan out their routes in order to maximize their toll use every time they enter any of these expressways.
