Honda Civic Type R Prototype heading to 2022 Tokyo Auto Salon
From track testing in Suzuki, next-gen Honda Civic Type R Prototype to make show debut at Tokyo Auto Salon next month.

Honda has announced that they will be bringing the red-hot all-new Civic Type R to the 2022 Tokyo Auto Salon next month.
While we are certainly excited, we don't expect them to reveal much about the performance model until nearer to its launch next year. Honda says it will be clad in a "special camouflage designed exclusively for the Type R", that's likely the same pattern we've seen in the teasers Honda has been showing since October. But they could peel off some of the disguises to show off aero bits.
The automaker says they will be showing a "new action-packed test-driving video", so show visitors can go behind the scenes with the development of Type R.

As with the teaser two weeks ago, Honda calls the car "the best performing Civic Type R ever".
The Type R will join Mitsubishi's new Ralliart concept, Nissan Z's Japanese debut, and Subaru's E-RA STI concept; assuming the show will go on. Both the Tokyo Auto Salon and Tokyo Motor Show this year were canceled due to pandemic concerns.
