Chery Auto PH teases new variant of Tiggo 5X Pro for 2023 Manila International Auto Show

It looks like Chery Auto Philippines will be launching multiple electrified vehicles at this year's Manila International Auto Show (MIAS). Aside from the Tiggo 7 Pro which could get a mild-hybrid (MHEV) or plug-in hybrid (PHEV) powertrain, the Tiggo 5X could also get an electrified variant available soon.

Aside from teasing what could be a new variant of the Tiggo 7 Pro, Chery Auto Philippines has also released a teaser image of what could be an electrified version of the Tiggo 5X. There are currently no details available regarding the upcoming vehicle, apart from the fact that it might get a refreshed look and an electrified powertrain.

However, a quick look at what other markets get has given us an idea of what to expect. First up is the Tiggo 5X Pro Hybrid. Not only does the crossover get a sharper look, but it gets a 1.5-liter four-cylinder turbo engine that's assisted by a 48V mild-hybrid system. It has a total system output of 160 PS with 250 Nm of torque and is coupled to a 9-speed CVT. Side-by-side with the Tiggo 7 Pro Hybrid, the Tiggo 5 Pro Hybrid (almost) makes the same amount of power and torque while also emitting fewer emissions.

Another possibility is that Chery could bring the all-electric Tiggo e. Essentially the EV version of the Tiggo 5X Pro, it has a 53.6 kWh battery pack that powers an electric motor – delivering 127 PS and 250 Nm of torque. It has an estimated cruising range of around 401 km on a full charge and has a top speed of 160 km/h.
