JLR to build flagship Range Rover models in India
JLR to produce Range Rover, Range Rover Sport outside UK for the first time

For the first time, JLR’s Range Rover and Range Rover Sport models will roll out on a production line outside the UK.
The Jaguar-Land Rover group has announced that their flagship SUVs will be assembled in India using knock-down kits. Units of the Range Rover and Range Rover Sport will be made at the Pune plant that’s owned by JLR’s parent company, Tata Motors.

The production hub has been operational since 2011, and is currently producing models such as the Land Rover Freelander, Range Rover Evoque and Velar, the Jaguar F-Pace and the Land Rover Discovery Sport.
JLR’s growing clientele at the Indian market is one of the factors that led to the decision of making the flagship Range Rover outside UK. Moreover, the Range Rover units that will roll out of the Pune plant will exclusively be for the Indian market.

The India-produced units are set to be showcased at Range Rover House India, while deliveries are set to begin at the end of May for the Range Rover and by August for the Range Rover Sport.
For the time being, that means Range Rover units coming to the Philippines should continue to come from the “global home of Range Rover”, which is the Solihull plant in UK. But if the Indian hub opens up its production for exports, Land Rover Philippines can have an alternative source to reduce wait times for its flagship SUV.
