The Lamborghini Urus has been Sant'Agata's best-selling model ever since it came out in 2018, serving as a practical SUV with the performance of a supercar.

But four years had passed since then, and new challengers are coming to take on the Urus. Lamborghini knows this as a fact, and that's why they've revealed the Urus Performante – the hotter and lighter version of their super SUV.

For starters, the Urus Performante has been put on a diet, shedding 47kg from its curb weight. Furthermore, it sits 20mm lower, 16mm wider, and 25mm longer than the standard Urus, thanks to changes in the front and rear bumpers, plus beefier carbon fiber wheel arches.

Lamborghini also tweaked the Urus Performante's roof-mounted spoiler and included carbon-fiber fins taken from the Aventador SVJ. According to the Italian manufacturer, these changes gave the Urus Performante a 35% boost in rear downforce and 8% in overall aerodynamic efficiency.

Not much has changed inside the Urus Performante aside from revised graphics in the driver display and infotainment screens, plus new stitching on the SUV's seats. Like the non-Performante Urus, the new model's look can be customized through the Lamborghini Ad Personam program.

In terms of its engine, the Urus' 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8 is now making 666 PS, 16 more than the non-Performante variant. Meanwhile, torque remains the same at 850 Nm, Other go-fast bits include an Akrapovic exhaust, carbon fiber bits for the rear bumper, improved differential and steering systems, plus bespoke Pirelli Trofeo R tires.

These changes enabled the Urus Performante to achieve 0 to 100 km/h in just 3.3 seconds, shaving off three-tenths off its previous record. Its top speed meanwhile, remains at 306 km/h.

In the US, the 2023 Lamborghini Urus Performante is priced at USD 260,676 (PHP 14.6-million). Lamborghini says the first deliveries of the improved super SUV will begin by the end of 2022.
