Lexus Sport Concept is one spectacular-looking supercar
The Lexus Sport Concept could be the brand's upcoming flagship performance vehicle for the future

Lexus surprised everyone at this year’s Monterey Car Week with the debut of something truly special. Making its global debut at “The Quail” is the Lexus Sport Concept, and boy, is it a beauty.

Billed by Lexus as a progressively styled, future-focused yet truly authentic sports car, the Sport Concept signifies Lexus’ future design direction. More importantly, it previews an upcoming supercar (or sports car?) from the premium marque that evokes a dynamic and emotional design.
Featuring a sleek and wide two-door platform, the Lexus Sport Concept looks like a taste of things to come from the brand’s upcoming LFR. While no exact details were given by Lexus, the supercar-like design, combined with the wide fenders and aggressive front end, signals the brand’s sporting intentions.

We also won’t be surprised if it comes with a powerful twin-turbo V8. That’s because in previous sightings of a camouflaged prototype, the production-based version always lets out a thunderous burble from its exhausts. With the LC 500 already getting up there in years and the RC F already bowing out, the Sport Concept could be the successor of either of the two grand tourers.

For now, Lexus is keeping everything close to its chest when it comes to describing the Sport Concept. But given the brand’s plan to introduce a twin-turbo V8-powered flagship performance vehicle, the thinly-veiled concept might just be what Lexus needs to take on the likes of the Mercedes-AMG GT R and perhaps the Aston Martin Vantage.
