MV registration for plate numbers ending in 2 extended until March 31

Earlier this year, the Land Transportation Office (LTO) announced that the motor vehicle (MV) registration for cars with plate numbers ending in 1 will be valid until February 28, 2022. This is to allow motorists affected by the heightened restrictions to have more time to schedule a renewal at their nearest LTO.

But what about motorists that have cars with plate numbers that end in 2? Are their MV registrations only valid until the end of February per standard regulation? According to the LTO, that will not be the case.

The agency announced yesterday that they have also extended the validity of MV registration for vehicles that end in 2. Instead of being valid only until February 28, 2022, the LTO said that these vehicles will continue to have valid registrations until March 31, 2022.

Like the extension given to vehicles with plates ending in 1, the LTO said that this will give motorists additional time to renew their MV registration amid the ongoing pandemic. However, the LTO wished to remind motorists to not wait until the last minute. Should they have free time to renew their registration early, they should visit their nearest LTO center right away.

Despite active cases dropping for the past several days, the LTO also wishes to remind motorists that will transact with them to follow the minimum health and safety protocols. More importantly, those visiting the LTO must always wear a mask and follow physical distancing at all times.
