LTO to spot unregistered vehicles with Mobile Command Center in SLEX
Unregistered vehicles, those under alarm and with illegal modifications—the LTO has its eyes on you

The holiday rush is on, and Metro Manila is already seeing an exodus of travelers heading to their home provinces. For the Land Transportation Office (LTO), this period presents a prime opportunity to promote road safety and enforce traffic laws, particularly targeting vehicles with expired registrations or completely unregistered cars.
Recently, the LTO deployed its Mobile Command Center (MCC) at the heart of the South Luzon Expressway (SLEX) to address holiday travel challenges in real-time.

The LTO’s Mobile Command Center (MCC) is equipped with a dedicated operations area featuring real-time traffic monitoring screens, enabling personnel to track road conditions, quickly detect incidents such as crashes, stalled vehicles, or congestion, and coordinate immediate responses with highway patrol and local emergency teams to reduce delays and maintain smooth traffic flow.
A standout feature of the MCC is its AI-powered vehicle verification system. Using state-of-the-art CCTVs, the unit can quickly check passing vehicles for three critical criteria: 1) proper registration with the LTO, 2) active alerts such as stolen vehicle notifications, and 3) unapproved or illegal exterior modifications. This capability enables proactive enforcement, allowing LTO personnel to address compliance issues on the spot and mitigate risks posed by unregistered, stolen, or improperly modified vehicles along the expressway.

“The Mobile Command Center is LTO’s promise to meet motorists where they are, especially when travel volumes are at their highest this holiday season,” said LTO Asec. Markus Lacanilao. By positioning the MCC on SLEX, Lacanilao added, the LTO can respond faster, prevent road safety issues from escalating, and help ensure travelers reach their destinations safely.
The LTO Mobile Command Center at SLEX will operate 24/7 throughout the New Year holiday, serving as a key component of the LTO’s nationwide road safety and public assistance program.
