After numerous incidents and complaints regarding the worsening traffic condition around the terminals of the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA), the cities of Pasay and Parañaque along with the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) have agreed to work together so lessen its impact on the commuting public.

The meeting last week between the Manila International Airport Authority (MIAA) and representatives of the MMDA and the local governments of Pasay and Parañaque looked to address the traffic congestion brought about by the P15.4-billion NAIA Expressway project.

“The MIAA might not be able to hasten the construction of the expressway – which is slated for completion two years from now. However, together with agencies concerned, we can ease traffic flow especially for those going to and coming from the airport,” said MIAA General Manager Jose Angel Honrado.

MIAA management has agreed to deploy airport police only within the immediate vicinity of the four terminals while the MMDA and LGUs of Pasay and Parañaque will divide amongst themselves the various roads leading to and from the NAIA complex.

Ninoy Aquino Avenue will be managed by the MMDA together with Parañaque Traffic. 

Andrews Avenue and Sales Avenue will be handled by the MMDA along with Pasay Traffic.

Domestic Road and MIA Road will be under the sole management of the MMDA.
