Chery unveils Tiggo 7 Plus New Energy at Chengdu Auto Show

The 2022 Chengdu Auto Show has started and we noticed that Chery has released an updated version of their Tiggo 7. Locally we have the Tiggo 7 Pro, our version has the 1.5-liter turbocharged engine pumping out 145 ps and 210 Nm of torque and it looks like this newly released version from the Chinese car maker may be an upgrade worth looking at.

Size-wise, the C-segment SUV still remains the same with the dimensions of 4,500 mm in length, 1,842 mm in width, and 1,705 mm in height. It also looks like it will keep the same 2,670-millimeter wheelbase as well. For the new improvements, we look towards the engine.

Known now as the Tiggo 7 Plus New Energy, the SUV will be rocking a new powertrain and some new exterior styling as well. Chery unveiled the new Tiggo 7 Plus as a plug-in hybrid electric vehicle (PHEV). This means that the 1.5-liter internal combustion engine will have two electric motors bringing their combined output to 326 ps and 565 Nm of torque. According to Chery, this is the same engine found in the Tiggo 8 Plus e+ model.

It will get a large grille and vertical slats but the headlights are also borrowed from the Tiggo 8. More details will be coming out as the motor show is still ongoing as of this article.

If Chery decides to bring in the 7 Plus New Energy and replace the current 7 Pro model, we may be in for a treat. If this upgrade is priced competitively, then that is good news for the buyers. What other upgrades will the new Tiggo 7 Plus New Energy have? Only Chery knows, but let’s all stay tuned to find out.
