MMDA says UVVRP will not be in effect this Thursday, Dec 8

Planning to do some holiday shopping this week? In case you have a busy weekend ahead, you’ll be happy to know that December 8, 2022, will be a special non-working holiday in celebration of the Feast of The Immaculate Conception of Mary.

As a result, the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) has announced that the expanded number coding scheme (AKA the Unified Vehicular Volume Reduction Program [UVVRP]) is suspended this coming Thursday.

Vehicles with number plates ending in 7 and 8 are free to go around Metro Manila without fear of violating the UVVRP between the hours of 7:00 AM to 10:00 AM, as well as 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM.

There is no word yet if Makati will suspend its own number coding scheme. However, given that under Republic Act No. 10966 which declares December 8 of every year a special non-working holiday in the entire country, we can expect the City of Makati to also suspend its own version of UVVRP.

For those who have yet to finish their holiday shopping but don’t want to do it over the weekend, motorists and shoppers can take advantage of the upcoming holiday this December 8. And since the number coding scheme will not be in effect, you will need not worry about being flagged down by traffic enforcers on the road.
