125th Independence Day celebrations to take place along Roxas Boulevard next week
Motorists who frequently take Roxas Boulevard will have to find another way to get to their destinations on June 12, 2023.
The Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) recently announced that the boulevard will be temporarily closed to traffic from 5:00 AM until 10:00 AM next week. This is to give way to the activities for the 125th Anniversary of the Proclamation of Philippine Independence next week.
The road closure will be implemented along Roxas Boulevard from T.M. Kalaw all the way to P. Burgos along both directions. Also closed to traffic are Katigbak Parkway, South Road, and Independence Road which will be closed off to the public from 12:01 AM to 10:00 PM to give way to a Civic Military Parade.
Affected trucks headed to North Harbor are advised to reroute from SLEX and head straight to Osmena Highway then right to Quirino Avenue, take Nagtahan Street, go to Lacson Avenue, turn left to Yuseco Street, straight to Capulong Street, and then right or left to R-10 Road towards their destinations.
In addition, truckers coming from the Paranaque area will have to turn right at Quirino Avenue to Nagtahan and then Lacson Avenue to their destinations. Southbound trucks may also use the same route in order to get around.
Last, but not least, the MMDA will deploy traffic enforcers to assist in traffic management; and deploy tow trucks, ambulances, and vacuum trucks. Concrete and plastic barriers as well as traffic cones will be placed in key areas to guide motorists during the temporary closure.
If you have places to be on June 12, 2023, better steer clear of Roxas Boulevard and find alternate routes in order to avoid the hassle.
