After numerous rumors, spy shots, and even leaked photos on Instagram, Mercedes-Benz has finally revealed the upcoming Mercedes-AMG GT Black Series on their YouTube channel. From the looks of it, this is by far the wildest AMG GT model yet, making the previous AMG GT R Pro look very basic.
The changes made to the Black Series over the standard GT are quite drastic. Upfront, there is a new, wider bumper paired with one of the biggest Panamericana grilles ever fitted onto an AMG model. Keen-eyed readers would also notice the integrated front splitter and small canards on the side of the bumper. To further enhance its aggressive stance, the hood now gets huge vents. The front fenders are now wider to match the new bumper. Interestingly, there are wheel arch vents on top of each fender – similar to most race cars.
Along the side, the GT Black Series gets a new set of side skirts. At the rear, there’s a new bumper that appears to have been widened. It also has an integrated rear diffuser and larger vents at the back. A big GT wing and new wheels round out the exterior updates for the AMG GT Black Series.
At the moment, Mercedes has not revealed any powertrain or technical details about the AMG GT Black Series just yet. It is likely that the GT Black Series will use the same 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8 found in the standard GT. However, expect power figures to be bumped up by a lot, possibly producing 700 horsepower or beyond. With that, the transmission will also be updated to handle the added power.
There’s no date just yet as to when the Mercedes-AMG GT Black Series will make its official debut. Considering that the video has just been released, it will likely be very soon. Once launched, it would mark the first time that the Black Series name makes a return after a brief hiatus.
