Tiggo 7 Pro Jr: Chery gives Tiggo 5X Pro a stylish makeover
The updated Chery Tiggo 5X Pro now looks like a pint-sized version of the Tiggo 7 Pro

Don’t try to adjust your screens. While it may be called the Tiggo 4 in its home market, this is the Chery Tiggo 5X Pro we get in the Philippines. But unlike the crossover we currently get in the country, this one looks very different. Heck, some might mistake it for a Tiggo 7 Pro Hybrid.

The Chery Tiggo 7 Pro Hybrid for reference
In reality, however, Chery has given the Tiggo 5X Pro a thorough facelift. Much like its bigger sibling, the Tiggo 5X Pro now largely resembles the Tiggo 7 Pro thanks to its sleeker front fascia. From the new horizontal LED headlights to the large octagon-shaped grille, as well as the eye-catching LED lightbar in the back, the refreshed Tiggo 5X Pro looks more handsome and upmarket.
With the Tiggo 5X Pro looking a lot more like the Tiggo 7 Pro, does this mean the interior is also the same? We popped the doors open and found out that the cabin still looked relatively the same. From the wide touchscreen infotainment display to the unique center console as well as the digital instrument cluster, the interior remains untouched.

Even the buttons and switchgear for the automatic climate control, the aircon vents, and the hidden console that houses the USB ports/12V socket just below the gear selector have been carried over from the pre-facelift version. If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it right?

As to what’s under the hood, the Tiggo 5X Pro continues to be powered by a 1.5-liter turbocharged engine with mild-hybrid assist. It makes 156 PS with 230 Nm of torque and is married to a 9-speed CVT with paddle shifters. It also comes with Eco and Sport driving modes.
There’s no word if Chery Auto Philippines plans to bring the updated Tiggo 5X Pro to the market. But given that it’s one of their most popular models besides the Tiggo 2, perhaps they are merely waiting for the right moment to bring it into the market. All we can do now is keep our fingers crossed and hope the company brings them to the Philippines soon.
