Local model finally gets the GR Sport package for 2022
Toyota Motor Philippines is eager to get going this 2022 with one model launch after another. They've already introduced the all-new Raize and are set to launch the Avanza next month. Just recently we spotted the Toyota Corolla Cross GR Sport at a local dealership. It’s the fourth model in the country to wear the GR-S badge.
But as it turns out, Toyota Motor Philippines (TMP) is bringing the count to five this month with the Corolla Altis GR-S.
Three years ago, we had a first glimpse of the car during its introduction in Thailand. Back then, we had high hopes the dressed-up variant would make its way to local dealerships. Apparently wait is almost over because that is exactly what Toyota will do.
It may seem a bit late, but no don’t need to raise your pitchforks. We won't be getting the same GR-S model from 2019. But rather, we’re most likely to have the updated Thai market version shown last January. Other details regarding the car’s specifications will be confirmed in the upcoming days.
Thanks to a very good source, we managed to get a hold of the sedan’s revised variants for 2022. The range-topping 1.8 HEV and 1.6 V CVT now come standard with GR-S kits. The mid 1.6 G CVT has been retained, while the base 1.6 E is no longer offered with a six-speed manual.
Aside from that, we got insider information about the retail price of the 1.6V GR-S model. When it comes to exterior colors, the Celestite Gray Metallic, Attitude Black Mica, Silver Metallic, and Red Mica Metallic will sell for PHP 1,312,000. Prospective buyers will have to shell out an additional PHP 5,000 to get the Platinum White Pearl Mica. The prices are still incomplete, but below are the prices and variants that we can confirm for you.
