All-new Mercedes-Benz E-Class L to be launched in China
If there's one thing that luxury sedans offer apart from a fully decked-out cabin complete with opulent appointments, it's a spacious cabin. The 2024 Mercedes-Benz E-Class is no different as it measures 4949mm long, 1880mm wide, and 1468mm tall. It also has a generous 2961mm wheelbase which is 22mm more than its predecessor.
But while the executive sedan is already spacious and luxurious as it is, the Chinese market will get a more commodious version of the all-new E-Class. Just before its official debut in the PRC, the first photos and details of the 2024 Mercedes-Benz E-Class L were revealed.
Essentially the long wheelbase version of the next-generation E-Class, the all-new Mercedes-Benz E-Class L will offer more legroom for the rear passengers. While the exterior design pretty much mirrors the European version, the long wheelbase variant has some slight exterior changes. It has longer rear doors along with Maybach-style rear windows that are separated by thicker C-pillars.
Size-wise, documents from China's Ministry of Industry & Technology reveal that the E-Class L will measure 5092mm long, 1493mm tall, and will have a 3094mm wheelbase. This makes the E-Class L longer by 143mm, taller by 15mm, and a wheelbase that's longer by 133mm.
Regarding its powertrain, it will only be available with a 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder, albeit available in two states of tune. In the 270 L, the engine makes 204 PS while the more powerful 300 L generates 258 PS. When it comes to top speeds, the 270 L can reach 233 km/h while the 300 L can go 245 km/h.
The official launch of the 2024 Mercedes-Benz E-Class L will take place in China in the coming months.
