Makati extends car-free Sunday mornings along Ayala Avenue until end of the year
For the past several weeks, the citizens of Makati (as well as those who visit the city) have been able to enjoy car-free Sundays along Ayala Avenue. Originally, the car-free policy was originally supposed to last only until the last Sunday of this month which was yesterday, September 24, 2023.
But due to overwhelming support (and demand) from those who get to enjoy having car-free Sunday mornings along Ayala Avenue, the City of Makati has announced that they have extended it until the end of the year. You read right, Ayala Avenue will be closed to all types of vehicles until the end of 2023.
Beginning October 1 until December 31, 2023, the entire stretch of Ayala Avenue will be open only to runners, walkers, cyclists, rollerbladers, skaters, and pet owners. Like before, the avenue will only be closed to vehicles from 6:00 AM until 10:00 AM every Sunday to give the public the time and space to do their fitness regiments.
In case you have yet to experience a car-free Sunday along Ayala Avenue, you'll have until the end of 2023 to enjoy your morning walks or exercises along the said avenue.
