bZ3 is a FAW-Toyota product

Apart from their hybrid models which have been dominating the PH market, Toyota is also busy working on expanding its Beyond Zero lineup – their range of fully-electric vehicles.

They first came up with the bZ4X crossover, which will be coming to the country soon. Now, the second bZ model has been leaked ahead of its Chinese market debut – the bZ3 electric sedan.

Photos of the upcoming Toyota EV have emerged from China's Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT). The bZ3 is the production version of the BZ SDN concept revealed last year with very minimal differences to its design. According to Car News China, the bZ3 measures 4725 mm long, 1835 mm wide, 1475 mm high with a 2880 mm wheelbase.

The bZ3, like the bZ4X, sits on Toyota's e-TNGA electric vehicle platform, and follows the full-width LED light signatures first seen on the crossover. However, unlike the all-wheel-drive bZ4x, the bZ3 is reported to be a rear-wheel-drive car. Based from the leaked photos, the bZ3 could be offered in two variants, as the photos showed the electric sedan wearing either 16-inch or 18-inch wheels.

While we have yet to obtain information about the vehicle's electric motor specs, the bZ3 could have the Blade lithium iron phosphate batteries made by Chinese company BYD, thanks to the collaboration of Toyota and First Automobile Works (FAW).

The 2023 Toyota bZ3 is scheduled to debut at November's Guangzhou Auto Show, and is expected to go on sale in the Chinese market after that. For now, reports suggest the bZ3 is a China-only model.

But should the bZ3 be offered elsewhere, or specifically here in the country, which would you pick? The sedan or the bZ4x crossover? Let us know in the comments.
