EV version of the Peugeot 2008 to make Philippine debut at this year's MIAS
Before the 2023 Manila International Auto Show (MIAS) officially opens to the public next week, several automakers have already made announcements that they will be presenting something special at this year’s auto show.
Not to be outdone by the other brands, Peugeot Philippines recently shared that they will also be unveiling something new at MIAS 2023. Set to be revealed to the public on April 13 is none other than the Peugeot e-2008.
That’s right, the electric version of the brand’s B-segment SUV will be previewed to the local market at the World Trade Center next week for all to see. While it shares the same looks as its ICE counterpart, this particular version produces no emissions whatsoever.
No exact specifications have been revealed just yet by Peugeot. However, we can probably expect the PH-spec e-2008 to come with the same electric powertrain as its international versions. Its all-electric powertrain consists of a 50 kWh battery pack that drives a 100 kW electric motor. This translates to a total system output of 136 PS and a generous 260 Nm of torque, along with a range that is typically between 180 to 380 kilometers depending on prevalent traffic conditions.
“The unveiling of the PEUGEOT e-2008 at the MIAS is intended to give our customers a glimpse into the electrification of the Peugeot lineup. PEUGEOT has been pioneering electric vehicles since 1941, and the coming of the e-2008 to the Philippines culminates more than 80 years of expertise,” said Maricar Parco, brand head of Peugeot, Astara Philippines.
Aside from the e-2008, the French automaker will also be showcasing its expanded model range that will be offered at special prices exclusive during the four-day auto show. These include the 2008, the 3008, the three-row 5008, and the ultra-spacious Traveller Premium. In addition, test drives of the 2008, 3008, and 5008 will be offered during MIAS 2023.
With the e-2008 set to be unveiled next week during the annual auto show, it will signify the Lion brand’s intent to enter the EV market. And with Peugeot already confirming that electric versions of the 3008 and 5008 are on their way, we can expect Astara Philippines to bring them here in the not-so-distant future.
