The Philippines National Police (PNP) has just acquired 210 brand new, multi-role patrol 4x4 Kia jeeps from JV AutoCirculo Corporation and KIA Motors Las Piñas for a total contract price of Php 397,950,000. 

These units, which cost Php 1.895 million each, seats 18 and will be used to take PNP personnel to hard to reach areas like farmlands and mountainous regions in the country.

Secretary of the Interior and Local Government and National Police Commission Chairman Mar Roxas was at Camp Crame yesterday morning for the blessing of the units that will be used to support the PNP units’ troop movement/deployment and other special operations such as civil assistance during civic actions, relief operations, Internal Security Operation (ISO) and other related activities.

According to Roxas the original budget was Php 476 million but after bidding and negotiations the contract price was reduced saving the government some Php 78 million.

“Kabahagi ito ng Daang Matuwid kung saan tama ang paggastos ng pamahalaan at ng mga ahensiya nito [This is part of the Daang Matuwid, where the government and its agencies spend wisely],” said Roxas.

PNP-OIC Deputy Dir. Gen. Leonardo Espina said that the 210 patrol jeeps are will be part of the 1,470 unit fleet that will be distributed to each municipality nationwide for use by the PNP Regional Public Safety Battalion (RPSB), Provincial Public Safety Company (PPSC), City Public Safety Company (CPSC), National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) District Public Safety Company (DPSC), Special Action Force (SAF), Maritime Group, and NCRPO District Special Weapons and Tactics (SWAT).
